Safety for 2025 Season
Mason Private Locating (MPL) is proud to announce that it
will continue its longstanding relationship with the legendary
Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) for the 2025 season. Since 2022, MPL and IMS have worked closely
together to make safety a top priority, both at the racetrack and on
construction sites across Indiana.
At the Track:
IMS, home to the iconic Indianapolis 500, the Brickyard
400, and a variety of other racing events, welcomes thousands of
motorsport fans from around the world. With cars reaching speeds of over 200
mph, ensuring the safety of both drivers and spectators is paramount. At IMS,
safety precautions are woven into every aspect of track operations, with MPL
playing an essential role in maintaining the infrastructure and ensuring all
underground utilities are carefully mapped and marked for construction
projects and events.
On and Off the Track Safety:
Safety protocols at IMS includes rigorous checks
of the SAFER barriers and track surface, but these efforts extend well
beyond race days. The team works year-round to maintain safety throughout
the facility. MPL's commitment to marking and mapping underground
utilities makes a key difference, helping avoid potential hazards
during construction projects and events. Their expert locating
services ensure that safety is never compromised, no matter the situation.
Off the Track:
In addition to its race day safety efforts, IMS's
construction projects and events — coordinated by Senior
Director of Facilities, Pat Garlock — require thorough planning and attention
to detail. MPL works diligently to locate, mark, and map all
underground utilities to avoid any damage during excavation
or ground penetration. Pat and his team rely on MPL to provide critical
safety measures during the ongoing preservation of the iconic speedway.
